A South Florida teen died of a lethal drug overdose in front of a live online webcam audience 12 hours after he started blogging about his plan to commit suicide, an investigator said Friday.
Abraham Biggs, 19, died Wednesday from a toxic combination of opiates and benzodiazepine, a drug used to treat insomnia and depression, said Wendy Crane, an investigator with the Broward County medical examiner’s office. At least one of the drugs was prescribed to him and it’s unclear how he got the others, Crane said.
Some of those watching encouraged Biggs, others tried to talk him out of it, and a few were debating whether the dose he took was lethal, Crane said. It’s unclear how many people were watching. Read the rest of this entry »

A 16-year old girl in central India killed herself on Wednesday after being traumatized by media reports that a “Big Bang” experiment in Europe could bring about the end of the world, her father said.
She drank pesticide and was rushed to the hospital but later died, police said.
Her father, Biharilal, said that his daughter, Chayya, killed herself after watching doomsday predictions made on Indian news programs.
“In the past two days, Chayya had asked me and other relatives about the world coming to an end on September 10,” Biharilal was quoted as saying.
“We tried to divert her attention and told her she should not worry about such things, but to no avail,” he said. Read the rest of this entry »

The body of 25-year-old Jake Baysinger of La Salle was found Sunday on the Pawnee National Grasslands, about 120 kilometers northeast of Denver.Cash, his German shepherd, was found beside him, thin and dehydrated but still alive.Officials say the dog apparently survived by eating mice and rabbits.The Weld County coroner ruled Baysinger’s death a suicide.The cause of death wasn’t immediately determined but authorities found a gun nearby.Baysinger was reported missing June 28.
