Clever Piece of Evidence

Wednesday Mar 4, 2009

airport2A Mexican man was deported on the spot when at the moment of his arrival at the UK, as airport immigration found a card from his well-wishers wishing him good luck for his “new life in the UK”.

The 40 year old man, a chef, told airport immigration authorities that he was in the UK to visit a friend, however, a search of his luggage revealed otherwise. Authorities found a large collection of Mexican food recipes and a card from his friends from church wishing him well for his “new life in the UK”.

The man later admitted that he had intended to work illegally at a restaurant that a friend of his owns in the UK and had planned to bring his family over if he liked it. He was deported the next day.

“We will not tolerate people coming here to work illegally,” the agency said. “People wanting to visit the UK must play by the rules. Those who do not are sent back.”
